PS7.1: Interrater Reliability of the Wheelchair Components Questionnaire

Wheelchairs users in low-resource areas encounter challenges to wheelchair durability that are difficult to address without reliable data. The Wheelchair Components Questionnaire for condition enables clinicians to rate components of a wheelchair for maintenance condition. Two physical therapists each evaluated the same group of wheelchairs at a boarding school for students with disabilities in a low resource area. An intraclass correlation coefficient for the two raters above 0.8 indicated good reliability.

Karen Rispin, Associate Professor at LeTourneau University, is Principle Investigator for the Wheels Project studies. Studies are done in a mutually beneficial partnership with a boarding school for students with disabilities in Kenya where research teams of undergraduate students and therapists collaborate with Kenyans to do long term comparative effectiveness studies on wheelchair types. A special area of interest is professional and patient reported outcomes measures and repeated measures performance based studies
